She currently is managing Loyalton High School’s educational programming and success in her second year as principal in the district! In 2016 she joined the Sierra Schools Foundation in hopes of adding her financial experience and passion for non-profits to the amazing leadership already in place. Growing up in an area where school resources were plentiful and electives were broad, she sees the need for growing rural schools and bridging gaps in the educational system. With a genuine love for community and charity, Victoria is honored to be a part of a team who puts these two things first, collectively working to make an educational vision a reality. Victoria is married to a Downieville native and has 3 daughters who now get to experience mountain living firsthand. Eight generations of Niecea’s family have lived in Sierra Valley and she is the 4th generation to graduate from Loyalton High School. After attaining her B.S. in education and teaching abroad for as a part of the Fulbright U.S. Department of State Fellowship program, Niecea returned to the Valley, eager to support educational enrichment and opportunities in Sierra County, knowing firsthand how difficult it can be to overcome the areas geographic isolation and the impact is has on families’ education and livelihood. Niecea worked as a classroom teacher TK-6 classroom teacher in Downieville for 2 years (pop. 300), working on her Master's in Educational Leadership as Lead Teacher of the K-12 School. Niecea then transitioned to the High School as DVL's AP English & Comp and 9-12th ELA instructor before taking a similar position in Plumas County. as the 7-8th and 11th-12th ELA instructor. This is her 1st year in the PUSD school district, 6th year as a teacher, and 4th year as a board member for the Sierra Schools Foundation—though her senior project in 2010 was working with Elisabeth Henson in designing a website for SSF in the year of its foundation! After teaching abroad in Thailand and the Czech Republic for 2 years, he started his career in Sierra County in the K-1 classroom and as an intervention teacher, moving to the area with his wife, Niecea.
