The founder of The Sierra Schools Foundation, Megan has dedicated over 20 years of her career to bringing equity in education to Sierra County's rural schools and students. After a year as a Fulbright Research Fellow (2007-2008), investigating rural economic development and its impact on local schools in the Sierra Nevada mountains of Southern Spain, Megan returned to the Sierra Valley to continue working as a high school Spanish and English teacher at Loyalton High School. As is typical in small rural school districts, Megan has worn many educational hats over the years, from teacher to athletic director to district academic advisor, curriculum coordinator, and instructional coach - some all at the same time! She currently is managing Loyalton High School’s educational programming and success in her second year as principal in the district! Megan loves where she lives and enjoys hiking and camping across the "Lost Sierras", swimming in deep Alpine lakes, traveling internationally, and sitting around a campfire laughing and sharing stories and great food with friends and family.
